Update: Nominations have now closed. Please vote for the Best LDS Female Solo Blogger of 2010!
Nominations are open for Best Female LDS Blogger of 2010.
Yes, we're late to the 2010 awards games, but the Grammys were just held last week. (Or some big award show, right? Blogger Criteria
- Female
- Writes for a personal blog, not a group blog
- LDS and identifies as such รขโฌโ not necessarily a Mormon blog, but the person would call themselves LDS if asked

- Posted at least 12 times in 2010
- Does not and did not write as a perm for Mormon Momma (no inbreeding, people!) and is not married to someone who writes or wrote as a perm for Mormon Momma

- Praise! (We will write a post telling everyone how wonderful you are for winning this esteemed contest.)

Hands down, no doubts: my favorite blogger is Tracy M at Dandelion Mama.

Michelle D recently posted…Blessings- Blessings
Are these nominations for mommy blogs or can the blogs be on other topics?
RMM, glad to see you here. ๐
Any kind of blog, any blog topic. As long as they are solo blogs (can have guest posts, but mostly one-person blogs), written by LDS women. Does that answer your question?
Kacy with Every Day I Write the Book.
http://kasm.blogspot.com/
Funniest writing I’ve found on the internet. Really. Also, I love Tracy M.
My favorite blogger is Vennesa at:
http://goodrealfood.blogspot.com
She inspires me to get healthy and has great recipes.
All-time fave is TAMN, the fictitious parody Mormon Mega-Mama who blogs at seriouslysoblessed.com
Definitely Courtney Kendrick.
blog.cjanerun.com
Ardis Parshall at Keepapitchinin. http://www.keepapitchinin.org/
I cannot believe that you included that blog in the voting. That woman is a loose cannon and treats you (and lots of other people) like crap all over the internet. It’s so out there it’s almost funny.
Well, Spanky, let’s just say I must have rubbed her the wrong way. It won’t be the first time! I’ll include anyone who’s nominated who fits the criteria, whether they like me or not. ๐
I’m new to the blog and I didn’t realize I had stepped into the middle of a feud. I’m sorry.
Keri, no apologies necessary at all! I don’t think Ardis has ever posted here in Mormon Momma’s eight years. I don’t recall if I’ve posted on hers. I’m a perm at Times and Seasons and she seems just to not like about 110% of things I say there รขโฌโ or anywhere else in the bloggernacle (or FaceBook orรขโฌยฆ). I wouldn’t call it a feud, because we really don’t interact much at all. She just disagrees with me and that’s totally fine. Different views are good!
You like her blog and I’m sure lots of other do, too. She’s on the list. It’s all good. ๐
I love Brooke’s blog at I Wanna Talk About Me http://iwannatalkaboutbrooke.blogspot.com/
She keeps it real without being annoying. One of the few bloggers I’d actually want to be friends with in real life.
Agreed. I read her entries and I think “This is a woman I would sit next to in RS, and then hit 711 for a Diet Coke.” She is a refreshing antidote to some of the commercialism I find creeping into the mormon mommy blog world
There’s way too much reality TV over there.
LOL OK, I have to admit that when I first saw the link and popped over to get some more info, I was a bit taken aback by the image of bikini/swimsuit full body on top of body grinding makeout on the home page. Not that I’ve never seen such images in my life, but I didn’t expect it on the next Mormon blog. The image has changed now and and is tamer รขโฌโ if not exactly a YW modesty lesson. ๐
It’s an interesting discussion. I read more of her blog this morning and I saw an odd mix of cute momma stuff, home stuff, and reality TV throw downs. IMO reality TV is the soap opera of this generation and is just about as worthwhile. But on the non-reality TV stuff, I quite like her style. Did you SEE her little boy? Holy cow, cutest little chub on the planet. (After my own cutes little chubs, of course. ๐ )

Dandelion Mama. Two thumbs up.
It’s an honor just to be nominated.
๐ Good luck, Kacy.
Wow, this is some mighty fine company. Thanks for the nomination, Daniel! It’s fun to see my name here, even though I don’t think I could choose who to vote for even *without* my name here.
Zina recently posted…The men in my life are not always an open book
Courtney Kendrick goes by C. Jane Kendrick. Ardis’s last name is Parshall.
Thanks for the info, Anon. ๐
I nominated Keri Brooks of The Posts of My House. Great stuff. You should check out her blog.
Pet Peeve: I hate Blogger blogs. The commenting system 99% of them use is archaic and annoying and ugly.
There, I said it. And apparently I hate typepad blogs, too. Here’s why. I’m going to tell you about a fabulous blog that has a serious problem. I love the writing, but I had to jump through hoops to find it รขโฌโ which should never happen with a blog URL. The URL defies description. But I nominated it anyway because it’s a great read รขโฌโ and that’s most important about a blog.
The blog is called Its Own Sweet Will. So the URL is, obviously:
http://itsownsweetwill.com
or maybe
http://its-own-sweet-will.com
Right? Wrong.
The header makes it look like the url is:
will.neebeep.com
Nope. Doesn’t work.
Tried:
neebeep.com
That doesn’t work on some browsers. On some that goes to a parked GoDaddy page.
The proper URL is:
http://www.neebeep.com/itsownsweetwillneebeepc/
Do not even ask me what that means. Let me just say a big NO to typepad.
And all the body text is centered. Which is CUTE, but really hard to read.
Now that I’ve griped and done the work to find the blog (I saw links to it on FaceBook but couldn’t for the life of me find it on the internet), you must go read. Fun and clever. And I like Steve.
And so, Lisa informs me that she not only JUST BARELY started blogging, but she isn’t LDS either. Wah! As usual, I’m an idiot and don’t even check my own rules.
But her writing is still grand. Seriously, read her posts. She deserves more traffic. She’d kind of Janiel Miller-ish in how she makes normal, everyday things interesting and funny. How I envy people who can write!
Oh you’re no idiot Alison! I’d admired and read about all the interesting things you do for years. I do appreciate the nomination, (short lived as it was )
Thanks so much for the kind words. (And if it makes ya feel better – know that I have *many* LDS relations who were very pleased to hear about your nominating me! ๐
Have a great evening,
~Lisa

Lisa, you’re not only a great writer, you’re a gracious gal. Thanks for setting me straight and for being so nice about it. ๐
And, really, check out her great blog. ๐
Big Red EP is a great blog:
http://ellenpatton.blogspot.com/
Oh, my goodness! I’m thrilled to add Ellen! She is a friend of mine.
Ellen’s brother and sister-in-law were in my ward in Boca and in our little group of very close friends (based on (a) age (b) ages of children (c) odd senses of humor (d) etc.). I’ve written about her brother, Robes, here and elsewhere. I even sang at his funeral in 1998. Love him. Love his wife. Love their kids.
And that’s how I met Ellen. And we both have red hair so WHATEVER she is obviously amazingly cool. ๐
She’s been added. Thanks for nominating. ๐
Wow, I’m surprised that nobody has nominated Stephanie Nielson yet. She writes The NieNie Dialogues, which is another great blog.
http://www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/
Goodness. How to choose from so many fantastic blogs?! Thanks, everyone, for introducing me to some new ones, as well.
Michelle D recently posted…Blizzard Mania Photos
Michelle, I can’t see any way to contact Stephanie. If you or anyone else know how, please do!
I’ve added the nominations so far. Let me know if I miss something. Keep ’em coming!
Thanks Alison! I’m honored to be nominated as well. What a surprise!
Hello, Brooke! Good luck in the contest. What a great group of bloggers!
I have recently discovered Jenna at Cranberry Corner. Her blog reveals a loving gentle soul trying to do the best she can with her blended family of 6 children on her second (and I hope permanent) marriage. Humorous and touching at times. My heart goes out to her and her husband as they try to make room in their lives for each other. (I am on my second spouse as well. 14 years this time after 20 on my first.) She calls herself “bumbling” but I think she is honestly as close to perfect as any of us have a right to be.
http://cranberrycorner.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the chance to see which blogs others like!
Happy to add her to the list. Thanks for pointing us to her, SouthernMan. ๐
Holy cow. Just to be on this list is the most amazing thing! I have no idea how I got on it, but what a thrill to be in such company!
Jenna Consolo recently posted…Its Always Fun When Siah Comes
Jenna, you got here because some wise people really like what you have to say and how you say it. ๐ You deserve your spot. ๐ Good luck!
One more week of nominations, spread the word!
I love Brookes blog…so funny, and you can totally relate to her!
I wanna talk about Brooke, too.
http://iwannatalkaboutbrooke.blogspot.com/
My FAVORITE blog to read is iwannatalkaboutbrooke.blogspot.com/ I knew Brooke as a teenager when we were in the same ward. She was hilarious when we played YM Basketball and she still cracks me up every time I read a new post. I started watching The Bachelor just to follow her updates. She never fails to lighten my day. LOVE HER BLOG!!!
Brooke tells it like it is in a funny sort of way: http://iwannatalkaboutbrooke.blogspot.com/
Is this how I vote? Hope so…….Brooke, Brooke, Brooke! She’s the best.
Liz, check out the post above. That will explain voting more. This is just nomination. ๐
hands down, brooke’s “I wanna talk about me” blog. my daily dose of comedy for sure!
I’m casting my vote for Brooke’s “I Wanna Talk About Me.”
I LOVE Brooke’s blog at
iwannatalkaboutbrooke.blogspot.com
Everything she posts cracks me up. Not only is she hysterical, but she’s also someone you can relate to. She’s writes the things we all think but never admit.
I love some of these blogs that are nominated, but after reading Ellen’s blog (for the first time), she’s got my vote! She obviously lives what she preaches and inspires all of us to be a little better too. It’s easy to poke fun at something (or someone), or make others laugh, but to truly inspire is a gift.
Just being LDS doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t guarantee niceness or craftiness or smartness. It’s when we allow the gospel to change us and make us better that we truly are members of Christ’s church.
I like this woman! She’s awesome! So read this article http://segullah.org/up-close/singular-opportunities/#more-4115 and then vote for her.
Jen, thanks for you fine testimonial. She is a great gal in person, too.
For the record, I don’t put much value in niceness, so you all should feel free to nominate blogs that aren’t covered in nice. ๐ Some topics just aren’t nice, but they are sometimes the most important.
Brooke’s blog is the best one out there! She is real and someone who I would probably be friends with if I knew her. I hope she wins.
I love “just a little bit of quirky-ness” at charlottelaughs.blogspot.com. She’s so real. Somedays she’s funny and random, some days she’s pensive and serious, but I always get something when I read her.
Thanks for the addition, Megan. She’s been added. ๐
Wow. Those are some pretty big Mormon blogging names. Thanks for the inclusion, I’m honored. (honored and totally out of my league, but honored all the same.)
Charlotte, not at all. Great blog. ๐
~j. from formerly phread ๐
http://www.formerlyphread.com/
Thanks for the addition, Clerissa. Glad to see you here! ๐
I hate to pit two very talented blogging sisters in competition, but I love Ashley Carter’s blog http://www.itsgoodtobeashleycarter.blogspot.com
Brooke and Ashley are hilarious and I never miss a post.
Great addition, alexandra. Thanks!
Oh, and after following your link and browsing through your blog, alexandra, I nominated you, too. Great stuff. ๐
Thanks Alexandra and Alison!
My vote is for:
Ashley Carter: Itรขโฌโขs Good to Be Ashley Carter
Sharla, this is just the nominating process. The voting will start in a week or so. ๐ Come back and vote for Ashley.
I’m a huge fan of http://www.babyears.blogspot.com/. It the blog of an amazing LDS mother raising two profoundly deaf children.
Thanks for the addition, Lisa. She’s been added. ๐
I got so excited the first go-round that I didn’t realize this is just nominations. So while I LOVE the nominees so far, I’d also like to nominate Jandee at http://jordanandjandee.blogspot.com/
She’s uber-talented, introspective, funny and a good Mormon all at once!
Em, thanks for the great link. Jandee’s on the list. ๐
Sarah Clark at http://themotherloadhome.blogspot.com/ =)
Love Sarah Clark at The Mother Load! http://themotherloadhome.blogspot.com/
Oh, wow, I’m only just seeing this now. Thanks for the nod.

I didn’t see this blog listed yet, The Mother Load: http://themotherloadhome.blogspot.com/
which is written by a very funny mom named Sarah Clark. I have followed it for over a year. She gives an update on her wieght loss adventures she calls the Mother Unload, tee hee hee!
Check it out. (and yes, she’s LDS)
I’d like to nominate Montserrat at Chocolate on my Cranium.

Thanks for dropping by, Kim. The Mother Load has been a popular nomination today. Make sure you come back in March to vote!
After perusing the list of Blog entries that have been nominated I feel it would be a shame if one of the most valuable Blogs I have read on the Internet is not included. Please accept my nomination of “Women in the Scriptures”
http://womeninthescriptures.blogspot.com/
written by someone I only know as Heatherlady.
Thank you.

Denae Handy, of My Backordered Life is one of the most fantastic mormon women I know. Her blog is so classically funny, without making fun of anyone but herself. Seriously… bust a gut funny. You can find her blog at http://www.denaehandy.com
Jenny, thank you for the great addition to the list. ๐
Her new web site is http://www.thebackorderedlife.com/ but her blog name is My Real Life Was Backordered. Confusing, I know. I think people should have the same name and web site.
Want to nominate:
Mommysnark.blogspot.com
Such a fun, uplifting, inspiring blog. You should check her out!
Added! Thanks for the nomination, Leslie. ๐
I love NieNie and cjane. I find then real and uplifting and even addictive. And I am nuts for DeNae. Those three get my votes.
Glad you like some of our nominees. ๐ Voting will begin in a few days in another thread. Be sure to come back and put in your vote!
Isn’t #22 # TAMN at Seriously So Blessed a spoof blog, making fun of Mormon mommy blogs?
Brock, I don’t know. I’ve never read it. Anyone?
Brock, I checked out the blog. Yes, it’s a parody. But the ghost writer really is an LDS female solo blogger. ๐ And it’s funny. (Although she claims to have just quit blogging.)
Nominations are now closed! You can, of course, continue to comment here, but no more names will be added to our illustrious list!
