Do y'all remember when I was asking for advice about my son going on a mission? And when I wrote this post about my tender feelings as we prepared for him to serve?
Well, guess what today is?
Hump Day!
On June 24, 2009, DS entered the MTC. He has been serving for exactly one year today!!
I had a busy day today with my kids, and I have an early morning tomorrow…so I really don't have the time or energy at the moment to elaborate much. But I really didn't want to let this milestone pass without sharing the momentous occasion with my MM friends!
I will say that one of the first things I personally learned is that it is much easier being the Mom than it was being the Girlfriend!! It was worth it to support Ray when he served his mission, but I'm certainly glad that experience is in the past!
It is obvious that DS has grown and learned a lot over the past year, and that he is grateful he chose to serve a mission. We have seen numerous blessings for him and for our family and for his/our friends.
Some days are harder than others, but it is as worth it today as it was 26 years ago with his Dad.

How fun that it’s been a year. It goes by slowly, yet quickly at the same time.
I still haven’t sent out a child, but my youngest sister came home from her mission today, though I didn’t get to be there because home is hundreds of miles away. I’ll hopefully get to talk with her tomorrow. They come home sooner than you think. 🙂
Can’t believe it’s been a year! Send him our love!
Thanks. :jumping:
I’m telling you, that first year goes WAY… I mean: WAAAYYY… faster the second time (with my son) than it did the first time (with my future husband)!! :rolling:
Congratulations Missionary Mom! My oldest son just had his hump day on July 15th! He is so very happy! 2009 truly was a year of miracles for him.
My sons estimated release date is July 21st, 2011. How about yours, Alison?
