This morning, as we were getting ready to leave the house, 3-year-old Cricket was paging through the December Ensign. When he happened upon a picture depicting the crucifixion, he exclaimed, “Who did that to Jesus!” clearly horrified. I raced through the files of my mind trying to find the right answer. The Roman soldiers? Pilate? The Jews? None of those seemed like the right answer.

In my haste, I thought that for now, what he needed was to be assured that Jesus was no longer hurting. I turned the page to find a depiction of the resurrection, assuring Cricket that Jesus was alive and well. But in those moments that seemed to slip by so quickly, I felt the assurance from the Holy Ghost that He did die for me and that He was resurrected so that I could be resurrected also.

I am grateful for the Atonement—that Great Sacrifice that was made by our Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the Holy Ghost through which we learn these great Truths.
