Happy Thanksgiving! With the understanding that what I'm most thankful for never really changes, I'm starting a blogging tradition. Each year I'll be noting some remarkable events and markable minutia that's made this year better than it would have been otherwise.
- Jessica's engagement to a wonderful guy, Chuck Richards—a great match and a great addition to our family—we love him!
- Sam's completely clean bill of health—not to mention having “the colon of a 42-year-old”
- Radiant floor heating
- Adjustable, in-ground basketball standards
- Performing: ballroom dancing, singing, acting
- Having an office right next to Sam's office
- Three daughters dating various guys who only needed to see the crossbow once to stay in line — and some who didn't need to see it at all
- My own eastern redbud and lilac bushes and forsythia and maple trees and grass
- Jetted tub with a chandelier and flat screen TV—yes
- Little boys who give me hugs all through the day and a daughter who never leaves (or lets me leave) without multiple hugs and I love yous
What are the epic or elfin things that make your life amazing?

Family, friends, diamond earrings, and a cocktail while soaking in hot bath. Only the last two at the same time. 😉
If I get really superficial, just for fun, it would have to be new cars that smell good and have no cracker crumbs in the seat, dark chocolate, and a new push-up bra. Ah.

This year I was diagnosed with cancer, went through treatment, and now have no signs of cancer. Definitely epic. 🙂
I am thankful for my children,and the fact that they all live within a distance,if our transportation went away,they could still walk home. I am grateful both of my parents are still alive and healthy, and that I live next door to them and all of my siblings. Really grateful we live in a free country, and have the right to worship whom we want to. I am grateful for my lawyer who got me my house paid for courtesy of my ex-husband!! Weird as it may sound I am grateful for the technology we have to get back in touch with old friends. Grateful for the knowledge that I will have my family for eternity.
Since it’s harder for me to focus on the elfin things when my life seems ridiculously epic most of the time, I loved sitting with my family after dinner tonight and howling at my dad playing charades to his own rules. No, moon does not rhyme with gone, but for him tonight it did 🙂 Grateful for my dad, my mom, and the laughter we all can share.
Mashed potatoes. OK, but there is no elfin thing more soothing when epicness swirls around me. With cheese is even better. 🙂
