I absolutely LOVE this presidency. The enthusiasm and energy are going to be palpable.

I agree–and the relative YOUTH might be fun, as well.

I am also really excited for this presidency. I have a love and appreciation for them and the Quorum of the 12. They do so much and their lives are now dedicated to serving fulltime.

It seemed like President Monson seemed to have the weight of the world on his shoulders yesterday during the press conference. it was so humbling to see him ask for our prayers after the press conference.

I remember a few conferences ago– actually, I think it was the Nauvoo temple dedication??
Hmmm, can’t quite remember now. But President Hinckley made some comments that sounded like he wasn’t expecting to be around much longer–it was the first time I heard him talk about it in such a serious tone. (instead of joking around about his age)
President Monson spoke after him and I remember how much more “prophet-y” he sounded.
I know– that’s sounds really stupid. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to better express it. There was just something about his dismeanor and the way he spoke on that particular occasion that was different. — More commanding. (Not as in “giving commands” but having “command presence”.) Ugh– I’m totally butchering my thoughts. I don’t know if I’m making any sense at all!
Anyway– as sad as I am to lose President Hinckley, I’m excited to see how President Monson will lead– what new emphasis or direction he may lead us in. They’re all called as prophets, seers and revelators, but they each seem to have a special calling, unique to them individually, in the “era” for lack of a better word, in which they lead.
I’m also anxious to get to know President Uctdorf better. To be honest, I really feel like I don’t him at all. You know how you sort of feel more “connected” to certain church leaders? There always seems to be one or two of the apostles who’s messages most resonate with you and you most look forward to, and impact you the most. At this point, I feel like I’m not even very familiar with him. So I’m looking forward to feeling more connected as I hear him speak and read more of his messages.
I also think it’s cool to have a Presidency member that’s actually from another continent. I think this is the first time, right? It will be interesting to see if that makes an impact or not.
As a side note– last night we took a new convert to the Visitor’s Center in Independence for FHE. There were little video clips of President Hinckley in some of the presentations– and every time I saw him I started to cry. My husband kept grabbing tissues that were nearby and handing them to me. Then we’d go to the next little presentation– there would be another clip of President Hinckley, and I’d start to cry again. Finally, at one point, he smiled, handed me the whole box and said “The Lord promised he’d never flood the earth again– you’re going to ruin His reputation for keeping His promises.” Smart alec

Nope. President Taylor was born in England. I would guess there might be some early counselors from elsewhere, as well???
