Big News
Lower ages for missionary service was announced this morning. Young men may serve, if graduated from high school, as young as 18. Young women may serve at 19. Awesome!
Time in MTC reduced by a third. Planning possible expansion of facilities and staffing.
New temples announced in Tucson, Arizona, and Arequipa, Peru.
Alison Moore Smith is a 61-year-old entrepreneur who graduated from BYU in 1987. She has been (very happily) married to Samuel M. Smith for 40 years. They are parents of six incredible children and grandparents to two astounding grandsons. She is the author of The 7 Success Habits of Homeschoolers.
Very fun to see my Facebook feed totally light up with missionary age comments. I know, I know, not as cool as Twitter, but Twitter just bugs me.
Just thinking about how this will change the look at BYU! heh
Right after this, my 15-year-old asked, “Why are there different ages for boys and girl?”
Wish I knew.
I could not be happier about this news – well, technically I could be because I think men and women should be able to go at the same age as well! But other than that one little issue this is wonderful, excellent news. I have more to say but I am working so it will have to wait until tomorrow. Just wanted to voice my support and to say that I am enjoying this conference very much. Elder Uchtdorf – awesome as always! Elder Oaks – so touching for me. Heartbreaking and humbling but really things that I needed to hear. Can’t wait for tomorrow! Thanks Alison for starting a thread to discuss conference.
Elder Uchtdorf: more loving kindness, more connection, more wise use of my time, more vision of what is possible and living it gladly, “it’s not a race, it’s a journey, enjoy the journey”, follow the Savior today, know His life and his way of living, service is the very essence of religion.
Good stuff.
