Christmas Tree French Toast

Ingredients

  • 12 slices thick, whole wheat bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 1-1/3 C light eggnogg
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • 2 t vanilla extract
  • green sugar sprinkles
  • 12 sausage links, cooked
  • orange slices, halved

Instructions

  1. Beat together egg, eggnog, spices, and vanilla.
  2. Heat lightly oiled griddle to medium-high.
  3. Dip each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides.
  4. Place on griddle.
  5. Sprinkle uncooked side with green sugar sprinkles.
  6. Cook on both sides until golden brown.
  7. Cut each piece in half diagonally.
  8. Arrange on plates like a Christmas tree, with sausages for the trunk and half an orange slice for the sun.
  9. Serve hot with butter and maple syrup or powdered sugar "snow."
