I listened to the audio on the Mormon Channel. I missed the name of the sister who spoke, but her talk about the atonement and the sacrament really made an impression on me. It answered a question and discussion I had been having with myself about a serious personal weakness I have been struggling with.
I also loved that speakers have the option of delivering their talks in their native language. Very beautiful and humbling.

Elder Holland’s talk was amazing and beautiful, as his almost always are.
I need to re-watch them (distracted watching today) but Elder Anderson’s talk did not sit well with me. Likewise, the seventy whose name I can’t remember (morning session) – a bit heavy handed perhaps.
Love Elder D. Todd Christofferson yesterday – “A God who makes no demands is the functional equivalent of a God who does not exist.”
Also, he said something about resenting laws, doesn’t lessen the truth/validity of the law. I can resent the law of gravity but I will still fall if I step off a cliff.
Am I the only one who found Elder Nelson’s talk very discouraging? I watched my wife’s entire face just fall.
I long for the day when our leaders realize that “diversity” without women is very hollow diversity.
Is that really Elder Packer’s son? I cannot handle another. The tone was so similar, dogmatic and demanding. We have to do ALL the things to get enough stamps in our passports. Oh, no.
This was another really great reminder that how we hear and interpret the talks is very personal to each of us. I definitely noticed a heavy theme of sustaining and supporting the prophet and other general authorities. I also noticed a great emphasis on the Savior and on how we take the sacrament as well as several mentions of staying safe and not straying from central gospel doctrine. I really appreciated the great messages even while I felt that some of it was a bit of lecturing towards any who might sympathize with Ordain Women. That is clearly just my own interpretation (not noticed by anyone else in my family – and I didn’t share that thought with them) but it was how it seemed to me.
I LOVED having several who gave their talks in their native language. My husband felt exactly the opposite.
I LOVED that there is so much time allowed for music during the Sunday morning session.
I LOVED Elder Bednar’s story about his little boys and how we want to share the things that help and comfort us with others.
Interesting jenniecherie, we had a mixed reaction in our household as well with the native languages. Everyone thought it was pretty great, but also a little harder to pay attention to. I think written subtitles rather than voice-over might have helped me with that? I just found my mind wandering I guess…but I do think it is great that they are doing this, and it will just take some gettings used to. 🙂
I really love Elder Boyd K. Packer. I am saddened that his health is declining. I raised my hand in sustaining vote to support the General Authorities of the Church.
Elder Allan F. Packer is his son. I have hope that he will be every bit as outstanding as his father.
One of the great quotes from todays Conference came from Sister Carol F. Mconkie. “We also sustain President Monson’s counselors and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers and revelators.” I wholeheartedly agree with her assertion.
My wife and I enjoyed the womens conference, and the Saturday sessions but were not impressed with Sunday mornings Prophet worship, although there was almost an acknowledgement that Pres Monson is struggling, as are quite a number of the others. We claim to be the only church with Prophets who talk with God. I saw no claim of new revelation. Some wisdom perhaps.
We really need a retirement age for Apostles so we can have a Prophet young, vital, and open enough to receive revelation. That would be something to get excited about!
