Favorite TV Shows

I'm not a big television fan. In fact, for almost two decades I watched so little TV that I couldn't even identify the day/time of a single television show. There was a show called Early Edition that I liked back in the 90s, but that's about it.

I never once saw Friends, Survivor, The Simpsons, or Sex in the City. And I probably missed your favorite shows, too. It just always seemed there were better things to do with my time.

In the rental house, we had terrible Utopia television service, so it wasn't very tempting. The picture jerked and popped and would often skip segments. Satellite TV was a distant memory.

Once we got settled in the new house, we started looking at services that offered whole house DVRs. If you don't like spending the time to watch television shows, you sure as heck don't want to waste any time watching commercials, and zipping through the ads is a powerful feeling.

When all was said and done, and the comparisons were made, we signed up for Direct TV again. It had the best mix of features and price for our family.

Currently we have one TV in the family room, one in the master bedroom, and a third in the guest bedroom where my dad sleeps. Eventually, we'll add one in the laundry room and another over the jetted tub. (Seriously, what a way to watch a movie!)

For better or worse, there are now three shows we like to watch. Fortunately, the television season these days is short. We set the DVR to record and most weeks have a show to watch for a little R&R. Most days I'm worn out enough that this kind of relaxation is more appealing than it used to be. So I try to assuage the couch potato guilt by telling myself that recreation is just as important as other productive stuff. In limited doses, at least.

We're fans of the following three shows:

  • Leverage
  • Human Target
  • White Collar

Fairly similar in content, formerly bad guys now doing good deeds, helping victims make things right. Fluffy, yes. But fun with generally positive messages.

Do you watch any TV shows regularly? What are your favorites?
