A friend of mine just posted this FaceBook status:
sometimes i wish i could just see who my wife is going to be…….i'm tired of getting let down…heck i'm just tired of trying. yea i know everyone is gonna say oh don't worry it will all work out….you know what? right now i just don't care…..
It's easy to dismiss such things. Mont is young, talented, funny, and handsome. He has his whole life ahead of him, so much potential, and certainly lots of love coming his way. Truth is, in all likelihood, his love life will all work out in time. He'll find the love of his life and they'll have the life he dreams of. But that doesn't change the very real heartache he's feeling today, from this side of the love he's looking for. Most of our pain is temporary, but it still seems unbearable at times.
Time is a great healer, but so is perspective. Failure is valuable if we choose to learn the lessons hiding in it. Maybe the lesson is simply: she's not my perfect match, one less person to wonder about. Maybe it's something more.
Hang in there, Mont. You're one step closer to what you're looking for. It will all work out. You have great things in store.
Alison Moore Smith is a 61-year-old entrepreneur who graduated from BYU in 1987. She has been (very happily) married to Samuel M. Smith for 40 years. They are parents of six incredible children and grandparents to two astounding grandsons. She is the author of The 7 Success Habits of Homeschoolers.
Love hurts. That’s all there is to it. When you want great things like love you take a great risk. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it sucks.
Great message. Tell your friend that I know just how he feels. My girlfriend of three years just left me for “lack of commitment.” I really love her and have always been faithful. Feel like I got kicked in the gut.
To Mont: I really understand. Please don’t give up. There is someone out there for you. She’ll be worth the wait and even worth the pain. 🙂
