If you know me, you know I'm a huge BYU fan.

My dad was a math professor at BYU from 1968 to forever and was the Honorary Alumni award recipient in 2005. My mom graduated from BYU and worked at Continuing Education when I was in high school. My brother got his bachelor's degree there and my sister her bachelor's and master's degrees. I met my husband at BYU, where I got a bachelor's degree and Sam got a BS, MS, and PhD.

On to the next generation, my oldest graduated from BYU last April and is now pursuing a master's degree there (where her husband is also attending). My next two are undergrads at BYU — and the next three feel great (but totally appropriate!) pressure to attend as well. I also have three nephews who have graduated from BYU or are attending now (the rest are too young).

Almost as important as my love for all things BYU is my love for BYU football. I've been watching BYU football since Gary Sheide was the quarterback and I was just a little kid, sitting with my brother in the “knothole.”

We have a BYU-themed rec room in our house and, yes, a BYU Christmas tree downstairs. And more than a few BYUish things under the tree.

As you can imagine, I'm super happy and proud that my second daughter, Belinda, is part of this amazing video series. She is the girl who gets her backpack whacked. Amen and hallelujah. Go cougars.

[Yes, he's the same guy who did the Study Like a Scholar, Scholar vid.]

Alison Moore Smith is a 61-year-old entrepreneur who graduated from BYU in 1987. She has been (very happily) married to Samuel M. Smith for 40 years. They are parents of six incredible children and grandparents to two astounding grandsons. She is the author of The 7 Success Habits of Homeschoolers.
