I avoid cooking whenever possible, but this year I made a Christmas neighbor gift that was a hit. So many people commented and I've been asked for my recipe. To top it off I've been asked to demonstrate the apparently delectable treat at homemaking…HFPE…Enrichment…a Relief Society meeting next week.
With Valentine's Day approaching, I thought I'd share the love with you. It's not my own creation, but it's really yummy.
Ingredients
- 24 circular pretzels
- 24 milk chocolate candy kisses
- 1 (1.69 ounce) package mini candy-coated chocolates
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F (175 degrees C).
- Place pretzels on baking sheets. Unwrap candy kisses and place one in the center of each pretzel.
- Place in preheated oven 1–2 minutes, until kisses melt. Remove from oven and place one candy-coated chocolate in the center of each pretzel. Chill in refrigerator until set.
Notes
Watch the heating carefully. The kisses will just get shiny, but not lose shape when they are done. Time will vary depending on oven and type of chocolate used, so do not mix chocolate within a single batch! The small round or square waffle pretzels work best, but small twist pretzels work as well.
You can substitute hugs or caramel-filled chocolate or even chocolate disks (dark/light/white) for the regular kisses.
Use candy-coated chocolates in colors that match the holiday or theme.
You can also substitute a walnut or other nut half (regular or toasted) for the candy-coated chocolate.

Alison, These sound delish!. Just so I have it right. Are the pretzals you are talking of about 1 1/2 in in diamter, hard crunchy salty pretzals?
I’m a lover of white chocolate and am thinking of trying this with white choco chips, if I can’t find white kisses. I’d probably have to cluster several chips. Do you put tin foil on the baking sheet? Or spray with pam?
Yes, they are just regular, small, hard pretzels. If you can find the waffle kind, it’s best.
You can use just about any chocolate, just watch baking time REALLY closely to make sure of the time for whatever you choose. If you overbake, the chocolate gets hard and grainy.
I didn’t use foil and I didn’t spray. Clean up was easy. 🙂
ha, these are super cute and so yummy 🙂
Yum, indeed! I love these things – you get sweet and salty, soft and crunchy, and chocolate. What could be better?! :hungry:
Made them yesterday with Hershey’s hugs (white and brown striped) and valentine’s colored M&Ms. Those took about exactly two minutes to melt properly.
Fortunately (for my waistline) they were easy to give away!
They are the best when made with hugs or even the kiss truffles… oh man, craving them now
Truffles? Haven’t tried those. Are they gooey chocolate filled or something?
I saw the cherry cordial kisses but worried they would just run all over.
I’d probably like dark chocolate the best. But thinking it might even work with those mini Reese’s? I know some use Rolos (that’s the “caramel-filled chocolate” in the recipe).
They are not gooey, but softer chocolate? Yes, soooo yummy 🙂
ohhh rolos would not leave my house, so no go on trying those out
