[Discussion after Alana spent three days in Cedar City at the state Shakespeare competition.]
Alana (15): We went to a restaurant all by ourselves and everyone was running all around the campus and stuff. We had complete freedom! It was so cool. But I didn't do a single thing I wasn't supposed to because you've totally taught me never to have any fun.
Alison Moore Smith is a 61-year-old entrepreneur who graduated from BYU in 1987. She has been (very happily) married to Samuel M. Smith for 40 years. They are parents of six incredible children and grandparents to two astounding grandsons. She is the author of The 7 Success Habits of Homeschoolers.
I bet you never have fun, ever! you seem like the total boring blah mom, and you have never done a creative thing with her, in her entire life! HA!
Kids can be such dorks! I bet she had a little fun, she just doesn’t wanna admit to it. Hee hee, gotta love ’em!
That’s totally cute!
I wish I could better convey her expressions. She told me this with such enthusiasm, as in, “Mom, I was SO GOOD! I could have done all this stuff other people were doing, but I DIDN’T!” But the words came out as I wrote. I burst out laughing (right there in the checkout line at Walmart) and then she said, “Oh! I didn’t mean it that way!!!”
You are soooo borrrring and strict! That made my day Alison! ooh that and the look on my youngests face as she laughed at me earlier.
This is hilarious! :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
Love her perspective!
Im going back to read all these that say Yea Big. I still don’t know what that means but they are fuunny!
Please tell Alana, I completely sympathize! Whenever I have to turn down a nice invitation (usually at work) to have a glass of wine or something similar, I just tell them that if it is fun, I probably don’t do it.
Whatever! Canning and quilting and hoarding food into storage is SO fun. Mormons know how to have great times 😉
hey with these time of change we’re all going to appreciate our food storage and preparedness. sounds fun to me!
jennycherie, that’s a classic response.
