I love holidays and I love traditions…almost to the point of a mental disorder. In spite of this malady, Sam indulged me this Christmas with the gorgeous Betty Crocker Christmas Cookbook. This hardcover book is laden with beautiful photography. (Oh, yes, chocolate can be beautiful!) It is the most usable holiday cookbook I've seen.

The cookbook has a holiday survival guide, a countdown calendar, nutrition and cooking information, and a metric conversion guide. The recipe chapters include:

  • Glorious Appetizers and Holiday Cheer
  • The Main Event
  • Candy Cane Lane
  • Holiday Breads
  • Joyful Desserts
  • Gifts to Give
  • Santa's Workshop

The great thing about this cookbook for me is that it is filled with ideas that make Christmas special and fun, without requiring that you transform into Martha Stewart. The recipes are generally simple and require regular ingredients.

The book is just plain fun and will add some great eating to your Christmas celebrations.
