If you have a new business—particularly a home business—one of the hardest things is getting the word out about what you have to offer. Here are some inexpensive, effective business advertising ideas to help get you started. Financial independence is only a client or customer away.
Brand All Communication
Get your company name, website URL, and phone number on every single piece of paper that leaves your office. Some obvious and not so obvious promotional spaces:
- Business Cards
- Letterhead
- Envelopes
- Emails
- Faxes
- Checks
- Invoices
- Purchase Orders
Write for Related Publications or Websites
Find periodicals or blogs that focus on your target market. Write some great content-filled articles and offer then in exchange for a link back to your business site. Keyword links are even better!
Create Useful Freebies
Have some inexpensive giveaway items (like custom keychains or personal flash drives)
created with your company name and web address printed on them. If the item is useful, recipients will keep them (and your contact information) handy. We've made post-it note pads, mouse pads, and (my favorite) flying rings!
Speak at Conferences
If you're an expert, offer to share your knowledge and insights at industry conferences and conventions. I've been speaking at homeschooling conferences for years…all over the country. When my homeschooling book (finally!) comes out, I have a ready market (and mailing list!) ready to buy it.
Deck Out Your Automobile
If you have a car, make it an advertisement. This can come in the form of bumper stickers, magnets, vinyl decals, or full car wraps. Just keep the look professional and persuasive.
Easy Business Advertising Ideas
Lifestyle design gets a head start when you have the financial means to live your dreams. If you're starting a business to gain financial security, use these easy advertising methods to let everyone know how you can provide solutions to their problems.

I would say that these are the budget ways of advertising which I have been using for a long time. They still work but I am trying to find some new unusual ways of promotion like walking adverts.
Anna, do you mean like the pizza guys who dance with signs in the streets? 🙂 Anything that is accessible to the “little guy” is a great addition to the advertising arsenal for new entrepreneurs.
These are some great ideas Alison. I’m definitely going to be looking into the second thing that you mentioned – guest blogging. What I take from your post is that there are always more ways that you can spread the word about your business. Thanks.
Good ideas, thanks.
I found that local listing with classifieds add and yellow pages are working good for my business and now I will also try these Ideas. Thanks
I would like to add that provided you can wrap it in an attractive package links to your site from reddit can bring tremendous traffic and even go totally viral. This is one of many underrated ways to promote your business
Indeed, Those advertisement ideas are simple and very easy to do. I think anyone can do that kind of advertisement. I will share this to all the people I know.
Come up with some unique clever designs for your car / vehicle. I have seen photos of full vehicle wraps for smaller companies, go viral on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Giving you even more exposure! Full vehicle wraps really turn heads, and are still the best way to get a brand or company message out to the public (the more you drive the more you are seen and generate interest). Great article Alison!
