There is nothing I enjoy more than streams filled with icy cold water born from melting snow. The stagnant stream bed is revived and life springs forth almost instantaneously. I can smell the coldness of the water and hear the gentle smoothing of the rocks as the water races to its destiny. It gives me a rush unequalled by anything I have experienced thus far in my life. It is impossible for me to feel discouraged in any way when dwelling upon this act of renewal. If I could bottle the feeling I would. Maybe I can, sort of.

Adrenaline is awesome. It can save you from certain death, but let's be honest, most of us don't use it for that. Its true awesomeness is in its ability to power the “muscle” of our mind and help us put one foot in front of the other when we'd rather not. It can also encourage you to climb the emotional mountains that jump in your path when you least expect it. How do they do that anyway? The addictive power of negative thoughts can debilitate a person and halt progress most assuredly. Positive thoughts can offer just as much power.

You are great. You are amazing. It's all in you. Accessing all that greatness proves tricky and even impossible at times. Unless. Unless, there is some trigger. Something short of encountering a bear in the woods, and equally as distant from a substance that allows temporary escape, or an artificial substitute. Innocent and harmless, and yet so powerful, positive thoughts can lead to a better path. Such a little thing, but it points toward the light of the Savior that dwells in each of us. That is huge.

Maybe, just maybe, the Lord knew what he was doing when he created us. And maybe, just maybe, your trigger to accessing what's already there is as simple as a rushing stream. Pay attention to how wonderful it feels to feel good. Feel how your positive thoughts create a physical reaction that propels you forward, one step at a time. Immerse yourself in the power, and feel the rush of renewal.

Be addicted to positivity. Let it trigger the rush of renewal, and consequently, the greatness in you.
