In light of the royal family of the United States of American demanding that we each figure out what our pledge to Barack Obama will be, I have spent much time pondering over my personal contribution to his administration.

While it is hard to top Demi Moore's commitment to becoming President Obama's personal servant while at the same time bringing about an abolition of worldwide slavery as a responsible citizen (or was it Courtney Cox ?), I can still participate in bringing about hope and change in some, small way.
For my president, Barack Obama, I pledge:
- To stand up for American values.
- To pay for all the electricity I use.
- To be a good person from the inside out, not the outside in.
- To drive only to those places I really, really want to go.
- To be more concerned about my children and future generations than about making myself feel good.
- To refrain from taking a private jet to the next Earth First rally I attend (or, perhaps, stay home)
- To put God first, not Mother Earth.
- To not follow the whims of popular fantasy at the expense of practicality.
- To increase the quality of intelligent life on this planet.
- To make an honest living.
- To promote personal responsibility.
- To value truth over political correctness.
- To teach my kids right from wrong.
- To teach my kids the difference between capitalism and socialism (see above).
- To give to charities I think are worthy with my own money.
- To protect unborn babies at least as much as I protect valley elderberry longhorn beetles and bonytail chub.
- To use plastic when it makes sense.
- To flush every time I use the toilet, no matter what's there.
- To serve God and my country.
If you really want to see what progressives are pledging to their sovereign dictator, watch this. Consider yourself warned.

Love it.
Thank you so much. I couldn’t have said this any better or agreed more!
HA! No kidding! Is that video sickening or what????
What’s really becoming more and more obvious is that it’s all about HIM. Not about America. It’s HIS symbol splattered all over the place, not a symbol of our country– our flag, the Statue of Liberty, etc. It’s always his “dawning O” or whatever they call it.
I know people hate it when he and his “reign” gets compared to Hitler– but I’m sorry– there are FAR too many similarities. The swatiska totally overshadowed the German flag as the symbol of their nation– it was Hitler’s symbol of “hope and change” too. And that’s what’s happening here—
that stupid “o” is “Overshadowing” everything.
anyone notice how pepsi has changed their trademark sign to mimic the dawning O?
That is a pretty disturbing video.
Thank you, Alison. That was fantastic!
Sorry we missed the party. It’s been a really long week and I’m still getting bounces from your email. Are you living in a different house? Actually in Lindon now?
Oh, we missed you! It was so fun, they are such amazing kids.
Yea, we live in Lindon now, a block away from our lot AND actually in the ward. Woot!

Hello. I am planing to produce a video to counter this one, and I’m wondering if I could use a few of those pledges in it.
Sure, Hillshum. That would be great. Please throw the site a line in your credits or something, OK?
I also agree that the promotional video was alarming. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51kAw4OTlA0) I hope we don’t pass this off as mere egocentricity. I smell danger, and that is why I did not support the president’s address to school-age children. I do not support him as a role model, and I do not believe that his speech to the youth was not intended to indoctrinate.
After watching this video, a few scriptures came to mind:
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” (Matt. 6:24)
“For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare; yea, I prepared all things, and have given unto the children of men to be agents unto themselves.” (D&C 104: 17)
“And it came to pass that after the more popular part of the Zoramites had consulted together concerning the words which had been preached unto them [the gospel of Jesus Christ], they were angry because of the word, for it did destroy their craft; therefore they would not hearken unto the words.” (Alma 35:3)
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3–4)
AND
“Priestcraft, as defined in the Book of Mormon, “[is] that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world….” (2 Nephi 26:29) While the term “preach” may suggest a religious context, the Book of Mormon does not specifically limit the preaching to religious topics and, in fact, is addressing itself to mankind in general in the immediately surrounding verses. This suggests that whenever anyone seeks to set himself up “as a light unto the world” or, in other words, set himself up as the source of truth or wisdom to be followed by others, he is practicing priestcraft. This would seem to be true whether this preaching, teaching, or persuasion is done in a church building, in the media, in a discussion among friends, or in any other setting where information is put forward as “truth” that others need to follow or believe.”
