Being an adoptee, I've often realized that one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given is that of life and a home. My birth mother chose to have me and my adoptive parents gave me a loving, stable home. In our culture, most people take these things for granted—they expect them and feel entitled for them—without ever really knowing how precious they are.
Earlier today I saw Elizabeth Barkley's story of love and how she's extended that to so many children (and animals!) who do not have those most basic things we all need. She is an inspiration to me. I hope she will inspire you as well.
Alison Moore Smith is a 61-year-old entrepreneur who graduated from BYU in 1987. She has been (very happily) married to Samuel M. Smith for 40 years. They are parents of six incredible children and grandparents to two astounding grandsons. She is the author of The 7 Success Habits of Homeschoolers.
Perspective. What an impressive, loving woman. There is a special place in heaven for people like her.
Hi Alison,
My wife want more children. At first she was not open to adopting or being a foster parent. Now she is interested.
Hopefully we can be good parents like your parents and Elizabeth.
Tim
Tim, I do hope that, should you decide to adopt or be foster parents, that it is a blessing all around. 🙂
Alison,
The only thing that concerns me is that adopting cost a lot of money and that being a foster parent means someone from the state will come check out our house all the time.
Are my concerns real?
Tim
I would say that she is a brave woman and we should admire such people as they prove the fact we are people are kind.
GOOD !!
Touching, Totally touching.
John, I so agree. Thank you for dropping by and watching. 🙂
Great lady! A bit later when I am going to foster some kids as there are many of them who need to taken care of.
