My birthday is in May, along with Mother's Day (which might as well be my second birthday). June features birthdays for Alana and Samson and Father's Day. July: Monica and Jessica were born. August: Belinda and Sam and our anniversary. Oh, and Grandpa Moore turns 80 this month, too. (Poor Caleb is alone out in October.)

We just went through our patch of two-birthdays-in-a-week. I did decently well, but Monica (who just turned 12) chose to have her birthday breakfast at the Little America Steakhouse Weekend Breakfast Buffet. If you like breakfast, this is to die for.

I got up, drank my shake, and headed off for a run. Afterward, Sam and Monica and I hopped into the car and headed to Salt Lake City.

My resolve was sure. Until I sat down with my plate of fruit and a bowl of artificially sweetened oatmeal. And I thought to myself, “Seriously? You're going to pay $17 for a stinking bowl of oatmeal?”

Logic was my undoing. The oatmeal was set aside in favor of a blintz, eggs benedict, and a biscuit. And I wasn't hungry again until 4:00 pm.
