A few years ago I dropped by a nearby Pier 1 while waiting for my brother. I hadn't been to one in years — and it took me by surprise. For some reason I had mentally classified the store in an ethnic oddity niche. But what I found was great home furnishings, home decor, and dishware at really competitive prices.
That month we ended up buying two gorgeous disk chairs for two of our girls' rooms at better prices than we found anywhere. And since that first purchase, we've been back many times since.
With spring just around the corner (woo hoo!) we're starting to think about getting our new yard ready for family fun and entertaining. We need a dining set for the deck and seating for the front porch and back patio. Pier 1 has lots of outdoor furniture (did you even know that?) that is durable and affordable, but a few giant leaps above your typical plastic ghetto patio chair.
My favorites are the stacking armchairs (like the yellow one pictured) and the bright, colorful weather-resistant cushions. But I'm also enamored with a darling mosaic table and the bright green beverage tub that would be perfect for a barbecue (or as a planter). And they would all look equally good indoors. Think of the eye-popping accent they'd be in a bedroom, family room, or sun room.
