Back in the day when the Farrah Fawcett hairdo was the only hair worth doing, it was imperative to have an unimpeded view of the entire back of head. If you can't see the back of your head, how can you be perfectly coifed?
I grew up in a home that was built in 1968. It had a magical mirror that gave a complete 360 degree view of the head. I had no idea—until I moved out for college—what an amazing feature that was. I was spoiled.
The mirror features three mirror panels. The center panel is mounted to the wall. The two side panels are mounted on cabinet doors that attach to the center panel with a piano hinge. Behind the two hinged doors are deep cabinets, recessed into the walls, with glass shelves that slide into the notched cabinet walls.
In later years I found many cheap imitations. You know, the clunky, rickety medicine cabinets at the home store. But none of the knockoffs were like the original. First, the mirror panels were actually big enough to work without pressing your face into the mirror. Second, the cabinets were recessed into the wall, to look finished and give ample storage.
We plan to duplicate this cabinet in our new, custom home in the three kids bathrooms and also in the master, with a modification as per the drawings. If you have ideas about this we'd love hear them. Bids welcome.

That is ingenious. What a great feature. I want one. No more holding a hand mirror while trying to blow dry the back of my head.
My wife would love this. I don’t really care about the back of my head.
I agree, this would be so useful. Why isn’t this a standard feature in homes?
I rigged up something kind of like this by putting a mirror with an extending arm on the wall. It’s not very big, but it kind of works.

I have a somewhat similar mirror over my sink. The only difference is the hinges were on the outside so when you open it up, there is a greater distance between the 2 outside mirrors. I think I like it better. I want to redo my bathroom but my new design won’t have room for this mirror. Haven’t found another one like it. I would be interested in your plans if you get some or if you find a similar manufacturers product, a link to the website and manufacturer.
