Notice to family and friends: I plan to do the bulk of my holiday shopping at Walmart this year.
This is in protest of idiotic Walmart employees who claim Walmart doesn't pay them enough or give them enough hours…but are too lazy or unqualified to look elsewhere for a job they will actually like.
It is also to protest the entitlement mindset of people who have never created a job or owned a business, but have still taken it upon themselves to dictate how companies that other people have taken great risk to create should be run.
It is also to support my friends, family, and neighbors who work there. These people work hard, learn the business, take direction and correction, take their jobs seriously, and make the business better.
Getting ahead in America is up to you. It's not up to your employer. Grow up people. It's time to take responsibility.

I followed over from the Facebook discussion. I’m so sick of clueless liberals clogging up the world with their stupid ideas. I’m convinced they are sincere, but that they rarely think anything through from what feels good to what works in the real world.
Sabotaging your company is a damned stupid way try to work your way up in a company. But there’s the rub: these people don’t want to _work_ their way up, they want someone to put them on an elevator and push it there for them.
My daughter and husband work at Walmart and they love to work Black Friday!! Last year I was there and they came home with great stories of things silly people do!! Plus even a present for me!! Bless them.
MMS, I agree. If you want to make more per hour than the job that was offered to you and you agreed to, there are appropriate, mature, reasonable ways to go about it. How about this:
(1) Work hard at your job, who responsibility and capability — go above and beyond
(2) Speak to your boss, get feedback about your strengths, weaknesses, career paths, potential in the company
(3) Decide, based on feedback, if this job offers you the future want. If so, make a plan to work toward your career goal. If not, look for a company that offers positions more in line with your desires or start your own company.
The idea that tantrumming is the new American way to better pay is nauseating.

I agree that we should all take responsibility for where we are in life, and what we do. There’s way to much of the… “it’s not my job to do that, or I don’t get paid enough to come in early or stay late” mentality.
I think this is a “learned” mentality that’s internalized from within the family and becomes a cycle that can last for decades.

I agree 100%. I have worked just about every crappy job out there, so I understand what it’s like to have jobs that don’t pay well, aren’t pleasant, and require you to do yucky things and wear embarrassing uniforms. 🙂 But it never occurred to me to stomp my feet and demand that my employer give me more stuff. It’s completely backwards.
