First Cement Pour In Walls

With the walls five block high, yesterday the crew poured cement into the hollow spaces in the aerated concrete panels. The result will be cement pillars surrounded by fibrous, insulated forms. There were two known blowouts (one pictured below) and the system used for the corners seemed inefficient and problematic. But when all was said and done the walls were standing firm.

Eames went home for Valentine’s Day weekend. He intended to stay until Wednesday. Brad prompted him to come back Monday to use the crew that’s in place to get this house built. This was another time we were glad we hired a general contractor to run interference!

    Well, Monday was a no-show. Also a no-answer-your-phone-or-return-calls day.

This morning Eames was back with his one-man crew. Brad said he’s send another guy over. The electrician was also there, but he assumed more would be done (he’s not the only one) so he didn’t have much to do.

Sun’s out today. I’ll probably head over to take some pictures of the micro-progress.

Oh, honey, believe me. There are no micro-processes when building a house! 🙂
