Countertop and Tub/Shower Surround Bids Needed

Granite CountertopWe are ready to get bids on the countertops, tub/shower surrounds, tile, etc. for our custom home. If you are interested in bidding on all or some of the items below, please use the contact form or comment below.

After much deliberation, we have decided on the surfaces we would like to use. The materials are specified below. You may also download the cabinet drawings. You may also download the whole house drawings.

Please list each room separately and please include granite splashes as a line item so we can decide whether to use granite or tile.

Note: After extensive discussion with countertop fabricators, we have changed the surfaces to reflect current costs and options. The post now reflects those new choices. 7/16/10

Kitchen Countertops

Granite perimeter counters in Uba Tuba (or similar level one). No backsplash. If possible we would like an integrated drainboard in the counter to the left of the main sink. We know this can be done with a CNC. If you (a) don’t know how to do it or (b) don’t have the equipment, please bid anyway, but let us know your limitations. Bid backsplash as separate line item.

Granite island in Apollus (or similar “high level one, low level two”). The island is 11 feet long, so this will need a seam. We’d like to have the granite cut in an s-curve with a contrasting, s-shaped, granite remnant (about 2–6 inches wide) placed in between the Apollus pieces. We know this can be done with a CNC. If you (a) don’t know how to do it or (b) don’t have the equipment, please just bid on the perimeter counters and we will find a different fabricator for the island.

Granite window sill over sink in Apollus.

Shower Surround

Cultured granite or similar surface. Include trim, soap dish, two shampoo shelves, and corner bench.

Jetted Tub Surround

Cultured granite or similar surface around the sides of the tub (no deck).

Travertine or similar surface above the tub, up the wall on two sides to the window height. Window sill will also be tiled.

Main Floor Guest Bath Surfaces

Vanity Countertop

Granite remnant. Bid backsplash as separate line item.

Shower Surround

Cultured granite or similar surface. Include trim, soap dish, shampoo shelf, and corner bench.

Kitchenette

Granite remnant. Bid backsplash as separate line item.

Laundry Room

Solid surface with coved backsplash. Formica, Citron Ice (this is solid surface material, not laminate). Also  include price for an integrated washboard sink (sink wall closest to cabinet face is angled and ribbed like a washboard).

Option: Granite remnant.

Other Rooms

This includes three kids’ bathrooms (two in basement, one in attic), basement guest bathroom, the office bathroom, the office kitchenette.

Cultured marble with coved backsplash. White with gold veining (called 208 Gold where we saw it). We’d like sinks integrated into the counters. Tub/shower surrounds to go to the above the showerhead with trim piece along outside edge extending to the floor. Include trim, soap dish, shampoo shelf, and window wraps on two of the tubs.

Other Covered Surfaces

  • All granite counters will have either 4″ granite backsplashes or tile backsplashes.
  • Family room and library fireplaces will have a band of glass, granite, or other tile around firebox opening.
  • Stairs will have either tile (stone or ceramic) or wood. 30 treads, just under 4′ wide.

Other Items

Shower Doors

  • Master bath: full Euro, clear glass door in brushed nickel.
  • Main floor guest bath: semi-Euro bypass, clear glass door in brushed nickel.
  • Basement guest bath: clear glass door in chrome.

Bathroom Mirrors

Two bathroom mirrors, one for each guest bath. (Other bathroom mirrors are being custom made.)

We have looked over your plans. We measured at the house today, the best we could because the floors were being worked on. Will get you the bid by Saturday morning. Hope we get to work on your project.

I read the first version and really love the updated list. Could you explain why you made the changes you did? That would be very helpful to me!
